Can I get a prescription for GLP-1 medication?

Maybe - and that's exactly why you need medical expertise. To find out what is right for you. Weight loss medications can be incredibly effective in obesity care, but they're not right for everyone. Here's how we approach medication that you might have heard about in the news, including the GLP-1 semaglutide medications like Ozempic and Wegovy, or tirzepatide like Zepbound and Mounjaro. 
 • Medical Evaluation First: Your obesity medicine specialist will assess your health history, current medications, and weight loss goals to determine if medication is appropriate for you
 • FDA-Approved Prescriptions: We only prescribe medications that have been rigorously tested and approved by the FDA for weight management
 • Evidence-Based Decision Making: If medication is recommended, it's based on clinical guidelines and your specific medical profile - not guesswork
 • Combined Approach: Medication works best when combined with lifestyle changes, which is why our program includes coaching, meal planning, and ongoing support

How do I make an appointment?

How much does the program cost?

COMMpanion Weight Management costs $390 for the first six months of care (billed as 6 monthly payments of $65). In many cases, you will be able to use your Health Savings Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA) to pay for these fees. This payment provides you visits with a weight loss coach, a personalized lifestyle plan, and access to an app that will help keep you on track throughout your journey. Participation in the program can be extended for as long as you wish to take part for a small monthly fee.

Medical appointments and prescription medications are billed directly to your insurance, subject to your coverage.

Will my insurance cover this?

Every insurance approaches coverage differently so it is best to speak with them directly. But in general these are the parts of the program that would be covered by your insurance.
Medical appointments: Covered by most insurance plans (subject to your specific coverage)

How long does the program last?

You're able to stay with COMMpanion Weight Management as long as you want to.  Like any other health condition, we continue to monitor your health after your initial treatment, because we understand that obesity is a relapsing disease, and we understand that patients need a long-term support that goes beyond a monthly fee.  The out-of-pocket costs of the lifestyle intervention program will only last for 6 months to one year, but our providers continue to monitor you as long as you want.  
Sustainable weight loss isn't about quick fixes. It's about creating lasting changes that work for your life, your body, and your goals and we will stay with you as long as you need us.

Can I sign up if I do not live in Pennsylvania?

Currently, our licensed medical team can only provide care to patients who are located in Pennsylvania. If you live too far to visit Pennsylvania for an appointment, we encourage you to look for a board-certified obesity medicine specialist in your area who can provide similar evidence-based care.
